Carlos Leiria charged in rather forcefully in the 45th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. Ricardo Monteiro made a fantastic save in the 46th minute, when Simão Matos sent off a good shot on target. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Simão Matos couldn't finish the play. A collision led to Casalao getting a freekick after 87 minutes play. Mário Miranda hit a great ball. Gaspar Castro struck a weak shot in the 88th minute. André Valente didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Marteleira. Marteleira's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
