Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell João Macedo to make the kick off. 53 minutes into the match, Carvalheda FC's goal looked a bit too open when João Macedo came free, but Manuel Azevedo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. SC Laveiras's José Leite played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Luís Morais in the 56th minute of play. In the 58th minute the ball was on its way in behind SC Laveiras's goalkeeper José Leite, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. João Macedo struck a weak shot in the 59th minute. Manuel Azevedo didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for SC Laveiras. After a defensive mix-up in Carvalheda FC's zone, João Macedo stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Manuel Azevedo came out of the goal and João Macedo tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After having played for 73 minutes, Alexandre Lima managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Carvalheda FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Alexandre Lima was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. José Leite made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Alexandre Lima in the 75th minute of play. João Macedo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 77th minute. Manuel Azevedo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Bernardo Nogueira fell near the penalty area in the 78th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Carvalheda FC's protests and gave Bernardo Nogueira a yellow card for diving instead. After 79 played minutes Carvalheda FC got a freekick which was hit by Bernardo Nogueira. After having played for 84 minutes, Francisco Paredes managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Carvalheda FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Francisco Paredes was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. If Alexandre Lima had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 89th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Daniel Carneiro hit a great freekick 95 minutes into the match. SC Laveiras's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
