Amílcar Coimbra could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 20th minute of the match, but Humberto Pereira made a huge save. 20 minutes into the game, António Araújo was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Vilarica's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Concieiro the free kick. After a rather tough play, Vilarica's António Araújo got a free kick in the 21st minute. José Antunes, 24 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. Cláudio Coimbra received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 26th minute. Gustavo Costa tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Delfim Soares had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 28th minute. Cláudio Coimbra sent away a hard shot on goal in the 41st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 48 minutes into the game, Concieiro's Lourenço Ribeiro nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Gustavo Costa made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

The crowd rose to their feet as Cláudio Coimbra kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Gustavo Costa. That made the score 0-2 in the 58 minute of play. Amílcar Coimbra received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 62nd minute. Humberto Pereira tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 64 minutes into the match, Concieiro's goal looked a bit too open when Amílcar Coimbra came free, but Humberto Pereira reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Cláudio Coimbra in the 69th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Gustavo Costa saved Vilarica from getting behind. In the 71st minute of the match Oliveira Sá sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Gustavo Costa skillfully saved the ball. Amílcar Coimbra struck a weak shot in the 75th minute. Humberto Pereira didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Vilarica. After 78 minutes, Miguel Viegas mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Concieiro and the Vilarica players grew even worse after the yellow card.
