Alfredo Cunha might have been able to make a better finish in the 4th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Filipe Almeida. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Alfredo Cunha ran back to his position shaking his head. When Simão Faria, who was free, got the in front of the goal in the 5 minute he wasn't focused and tipped the ball just over the goal. The Filipe Almeida was delighted since the ball would have got in if it had gone under the crossbar. Bruno Ramos sent away a hard shot on goal in the 7th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Bruno Ramos came up free with the goalie in the 12th minute, the SC Palhaca fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Bruno Ramos couldn't finish the play. Pepe FC's Lúcio Campos played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Bruno Ramos in the 13th minute of play. If Bruno Ramos had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 15th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 20 minutes into the game, João Marques was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Pepe FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave SC Palhaca the free kick. The supporters of SC Palhaca booed when Pepe FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 20 match minutes in a wonderful position. João Marques didn't get a good kick on the ball. Lúcio Campos made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Bruno Ramos in the 22nd minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 33rd minute, Bruno Ramos managed to get in a good position for a shot. SC Palhaca's supporters rose to their feet, but Bruno Ramos was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Lúcio Campos breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. If João Fontes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 38th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a rather tough play, Pepe FC's Álvaro Esteves got a free kick in the 39th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Bruno Ramos in the 40th minute of play forced Pepe FC's goalkeeper Lúcio Campos to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 43 played minutes SC Palhaca got a freekick which was hit by Ricardo Nogueira. After having played for 44 minutes, Alfredo Cunha managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Pepe FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Alfredo Cunha was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After 45 played minutes SC Palhaca got a freekick which was hit by Gaspar Paiva. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Alfredo Cunha was the one to do the kick off. Ricardo Nogueira could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 52nd minute of the match, but Lúcio Campos made a huge save. 54 minutes into the game, Simão Faria cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-0. Filipe Almeida was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Alfredo Cunha's late challenge caught a SC Palhaca's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Alfredo Cunha helped the player get up and apologised. In the 59th minute, Alfredo Cunha hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Lúcio Campos made a fantastic save in the 60th minute, when João Fontes sent off a good shot on target. 63 minutes into the match, Pepe FC's goal looked a bit too open when Bruno Ramos came free, but Lúcio Campos reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 65 played minutes SC Palhaca got a freekick which was hit by Alexandre Guerreiro. Álvaro Esteves sent away a hard shot on goal in the 74th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Simão Faria had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 76th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Lúcio Campos made an important save on a dangerous shot by João Fontes in the 80th minute. A collision led to SC Palhaca getting a freekick after 80 minutes play. Alexandre Guerreiro hit a great ball. In the 82nd minute Simão Faria shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Filipe Almeida saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The audience was convinced that Bruno Ramos's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Lúcio Campos was relentless in the 87th minute of the game. Alfredo Cunha recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 90th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal.
