Afonso Abreu recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 7th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Emílio Queirós struck a weak shot in the 9th minute. Jaime Moutinho didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for SC Lissabon. Emílio Queirós's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Jaime Moutinho read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 13th minute of play. Miguel Sousa struck a weak shot in the 15th minute. Jaime Moutinho didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for SC Lissabon. The supporters of Silvaescura FC booed when SC Lissabon was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 18 match minutes in a wonderful position. Fernando Matias didn't get a good kick on the ball. Vítor Barbosa was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 19th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. After 20 minutes, Humberto Moreira mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the SC Lissabon and the Silvaescura FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 20th minute, Humberto Moreira hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After some fancy dribbling in the 22nd minute, Afonso Abreu managed to get in a good position for a shot. Silvaescura FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Afonso Abreu was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Pedro Miranda breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Silvaescura FC's Jaime Moutinho played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Emílio Queirós in the 42nd minute of play. Jaime Moutinho took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Basílio Miranda, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When Paulo Mota fell near the penalty area in the 47th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Silvaescura FC's protests and gave Paulo Mota a yellow card for diving instead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Rui Anjos stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Cristiano Porto hit a great freekick 53 minutes into the match. After some careless play in the Silvaescura FC defense, Filipe Coimbra kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Jaime Moutinho. The Silvaescura FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Jaime Moutinho should have stopped the shot. Rui Anjos fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 58th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Pedro Miranda having to interfere. After a rather tough play, SC Lissabon's Ricardo Luz got a free kick in the 64th minute. Pedro Miranda showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Rui Anjos in the 68th minute of the match. Rui Anjos blasted a shot towards the goal in the 69th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Pedro Miranda having to make a save. 73 minutes into the game, Silvaescura FC's Afonso Abreu nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Pedro Miranda made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-2. Pedro Miranda stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Afonso Abreu's shot from short distance in the 79th minute. With a little luck, Silvaescura FC's Jaime Moutinho got control of the ball when Miguel Sousa tried to sneak it across the goal line. Silvaescura FC's Cristiano Porto got his second yellow card of the match in the 91st minute. The referee ordered Cristiano Porto off the ground. After 91 played minutes Silvaescura FC got a freekick which was hit by Cristiano Porto. Silvaescura FC's goalkeeper couldn't reach when Emílio Queirós 93 minutes into the game got a good kick on the ball which found its way into goal just inside left pole. 2-3. After having played for 97 minutes, Emílio Queirós managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. SC Lissabon's supporters crossed their fingers, but Emílio Queirós was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. SC Lissabon walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
