Rafael Martins showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Vicente Gaspar, who was totally free with the ball in the 10th minute. 12 minutes into the match, Guardais FC's goal looked a bit too open when David Ribeiro came free, but Vicente Bessa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. SC Vermil's supporters crossed their fingers, but Fernando Coimbra was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Henrique Rocha hit a great freekick 19 minutes into the match. David Ribeiro's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Vicente Bessa read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 20th minute of play. In the 21st minute, David Ribeiro reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Vicente Bessa. The goal made the score 1-0. After a rather tough play, SC Vermil's Albertino Brito got a free kick in the 24th minute. Vicente Bessa took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from David Ribeiro, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 37 minutes into the game, Alfredo Paredes was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. SC Vermil's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Guardais FC the free kick. The audience was convinced that Vicente Gaspar's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Rafael Martins was relentless in the 39th minute of the game. Vicente Bessa took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from David Ribeiro, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Alfredo Paredes got his second yellow card in the match during the 44th minute which meant that he had to leave the ground. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

In the 54th minute, José Rodrigues hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Jacinto Magalhães took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 55th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Rafael Martins. SC Vermil's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Jacinto Magalhães kicked well hit freekick during the 57th minute of the match. Fernando Coimbra recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 59th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 71st minute, Heitor Antunes got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After 74 minutes, Jacinto Magalhães mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Guardais FC and the SC Vermil players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 74th match minute, Guardais FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jacinto Magalhães to maneuver through the defense. After having played for 79 minutes, Vicente Gaspar managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal.
