In the 6th minute of the match Jacinto Faro sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Álvaro Coelho skillfully saved the ball. Jacinto Delgado sent away a hard shot on goal in the 8th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Gil Fonseca showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cláudio Freitas, who was totally free with the ball in the 11th minute. Álvaro Leite could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 20th minute of the match, but Álvaro Coelho made a huge save. After 21 played minutes Ester FC got a freekick which was hit by Fábio Cunha. Álvaro Coelho took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Paulo Gonçalves, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. With a little luck, Ester FC's Álvaro Coelho got control of the ball when Álvaro Leite tried to sneak it across the goal line. Descoberto's Gil Fonseca played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Diamantino Machado in the 27th minute of play. Gil Fonseca showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Fábio Cunha, who was totally free with the ball in the 31st minute. When Álvaro Leite came up free with the goalie in the 34th minute, the Descoberto fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Álvaro Leite couldn't finish the play. 36 minutes into the match, Ester FC's goalkeeper Álvaro Coelho had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Álvaro Leite. Paulo Gonçalves was extremely unlucky when he, in the 40th minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. Álvaro Leite could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 42nd minute of the match, but Álvaro Coelho made a huge save. If Cláudio Freitas had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 44th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Descoberto's Paulo Gonçalves was standing unmarked in front of the goal when he, in the 47th play minute, got the ball and easily drilled it into the goal. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.
Fábio Cunha hit a great freekick 54 minutes into the match. Descoberto were awarded a corner in the 56th minute after Ester FC's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Jacinto Faro took the corner. After taking down the ball on Descoberto's corner Jacinto Faro fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Álvaro Coelho quite easily take care of the ball. Ester FC's Diamantino Machado got a good chance for a goal in the 74th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 101st minute, Cláudio Brás hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Diamantino Machado recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 104th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal.
