The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Rui Faro blasted a shot towards the goal in the 16th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Hugo Sousa having to make a save. 21 minutes into the match, Bespeira's goal looked a bit too open when Domingos Borba came free, but Paulo Melo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When Luís Faro fell near the penalty area in the 22nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Bespeira's protests and gave Luís Faro a yellow card for diving instead. Luís Faro hit a great freekick 22 minutes into the match. In the 24th minute, Bespeira's Rui Faro dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-1. 29 minutes into the match, Valhascos's goalkeeper Hugo Sousa had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Bruno Pires. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Bruno Pires couldn't finish the play. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Domingos Borba made a kick off. Bruno Pires fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 53rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Hugo Sousa having to interfere. Rui Faro took the ball and in the 56 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Hugo Sousa. Hugo Sousa dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-1. Rui Faro sent away a hard shot on goal in the 66th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The Valhascos supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Valhascos would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
