In the 11th minute, Carlos Alves got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. If Carlos Alves had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 13th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. After 16th play minutes Albertino Pereira shot 0-1, a short shot which went by Gonçalo Henriques and just under the crossbar into goal. After some fancy dribbling in the 21st minute, Albertino Pereira managed to get in a good position for a shot. SC Espalhafatos's supporters rose to their feet, but Albertino Pereira was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Gonçalo Henriques breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The audience thought a goal was coming when Afonso Domingues got free with Fernando Delgado in the 24th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 24 minutes into the game, Joaquim Tavares was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. SC Espalhafatos's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave SC Chelreira the free kick. After a rather tough play, SC Espalhafatos's Joaquim Tavares got a free kick in the 24th minute. After a defensive mix-up in SC Chelreira's zone, Carlos Alves stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Gonçalo Henriques came out of the goal and Carlos Alves tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Inácio Rodrigues charged in rather forcefully in the 31st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Inácio Rodrigues the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. A collision led to SC Chelreira getting a freekick after 31 minutes play. Inácio Rodrigues hit a great ball. In the 32nd minute Albertino Pereira shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gonçalo Henriques saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in SC Espalhafatos's zone, Armindo Domingues stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Fernando Delgado came out of the goal and Armindo Domingues tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After a rather tough play, SC Espalhafatos's Joaquim Tavares got a free kick in the 35th minute. After 37 played minutes SC Espalhafatos got a freekick which was hit by Joaquim Tavares. Albertino Pereira blasted a shot towards the goal in the 44th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Gonçalo Henriques having to make a save. SC Chelreira's Gonçalo Henriques played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Albertino Pereira in the 47th minute of play. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The wind increased when Armindo Domingues made the kick off in the second half. Carlos Alves who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 51stth minute tested the skills of Gonçalo Henriques when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Carlos Alves received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 57th minute. Gonçalo Henriques tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Albertino Pereira came up free with the goalie in the 60th minute, the SC Espalhafatos fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Albertino Pereira couldn't finish the play. In the 63rd minute, Armindo Domingues ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Fernando Delgado was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-1. During the 67th minute of the match Inácio Rodrigues completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Inácio Rodrigues a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. A hard shot by Paulo Domingues from long distance, 69 minutes into the match, got Gonçalo Henriques's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. Afonso Domingues struck a weak shot in the 78th minute. Fernando Delgado didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for SC Chelreira. After a rather tough play, SC Espalhafatos's Óscar Ribeiro got a free kick in the 79th minute. After a defensive mix-up in SC Espalhafatos's zone, Afonso Domingues stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Fernando Delgado came out of the goal and Afonso Domingues tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 81st minute, Rui Mota hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Fernando Delgado showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Afonso Domingues, who was totally free with the ball in the 82nd minute. Carlos Alves received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 88th minute. Gonçalo Henriques tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Fernando Delgado showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Afonso Domingues, who was totally free with the ball in the 90th minute. SC Chelreira succeeded in salvaging a draw, even though SC Espalhafatos had controlled the match.
