The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 4th minute of the match Ricardo Matias shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Armando Anjos showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. In the 6th minute, André Pinho ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Armando Anjos was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. An unexpectedly hard shot by David Guerreiro in the 10th minute of play forced SC Covinhas's goalkeeper Eduardo Delgado to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Duarte Costa kicked well hit freekick during the 12th minute of the match. Gil Freitas received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 16th minute. Armando Anjos tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 18 minutes into the match, SC Covinhas's goalkeeper Eduardo Delgado had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by David Guerreiro. Eduardo Delgado made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Manuel Leite in the 19th minute of play. In the 21st minute, Simão Santarém hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. André Pinho received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 25th minute. Armando Anjos tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Pedro Coimbra kicked well hit freekick during the 29th minute of the match. SC Covinhas's Eduardo Delgado proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 30th minute of the match, managed to save SC Covinhas from getting a goal against them. André Pinho received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 34th minute. Armando Anjos tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The SC Covinhas fans' excitement grew in the 37th match minute when SC Covinhas's Hugo Monteiro looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-2 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. If Hugo Monteiro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 42nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Duarte Costa kicked well hit freekick during the 43rd minute of the match. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-2 lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Manuel Leite stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Eduardo Delgado showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from David Guerreiro, who was totally free with the ball in the 53rd minute. In the 63rd minute the ball was on its way in behind SC Covinhas's goalkeeper Eduardo Delgado, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. The supporters of SC Espeses booed when SC Covinhas was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 67 match minutes in a wonderful position. Bento Vieira didn't get a good kick on the ball. After recieving a nice pass, SC Espeses's Daniel Pereira tried to score from far away in the 68th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. Manuel Leite took the ball and in the 70 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Eduardo Delgado. Eduardo Delgado dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-2. André Pinho sent away a hard shot on goal in the 78th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Hugo Monteiro could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 84th minute of the match, but Armando Anjos made a huge save. In the 88th minute André Pinho shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Armando Anjos saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. SC Espeses's Armando Anjos played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by André Pinho in the 91st minute of play. SC Covinhas were furious when João Brito was red carded, 94 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 94th minute of the game. One of SC Covinhas:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of SC Espeses:s goal. In the 97th minute there was a penalty for SC Espeses. Daniel Pereira stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Eduardo Delgado. 2-2.
