José Maia might have been able to make a better finish in the 17th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Duarte Pinto. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. José Maia fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 21st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Duarte Pinto having to interfere. 27 minutes into the match, Aveledo's goal looked a bit too open when José Maia came free, but Duarte Pinto reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 34th minute Armindo Faro shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Fernando Freitas saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by José Maia in the 87th minute of play forced Aveledo's goalkeeper Duarte Pinto to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Fernando Freitas made a fantastic save in the 89th minute, when Manuel Machado sent off a good shot on target. In the 96th minute, Manuel Machado got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal.
