He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Gemezes FC reached it. The supporters of Fernandinho booed when Gemezes FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 18 match minutes in a wonderful position. António Fernandes didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 26th minute the ball was on its way in behind Fernandinho's goalkeeper Júlio Gueifão, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. When the match clock showed 30 minutes, the score became 0-1 when João Jesus sped through Gemezes FC's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Alberto Cabral. Fernando Garcia received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 33rd minute. Alberto Cabral tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If João Jesus had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 35th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Alberto Cabral made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from João Jesus in the 42nd minute of play. Fernandinho's supporters rose to their feet, but Fernando Garcia was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Alberto Cabral breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. João Jesus might have been able to make a better finish in the 97th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Alberto Cabral. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. João Jesus ran back to his position shaking his head. 101 minutes into the match, Fernando Garcia had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Alberto Cabral. Gemezes FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Fernando Garcia was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-3. When the match was over Fernandinho could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Gemezes FC throughout the match.
