The audience thought a goal was coming when Fernando Garcia got free with Filipe Azevedo in the 17th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Fernando Garcia sent away a hard shot on goal in the 31st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 33rd minute João Jesus shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Filipe Azevedo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Tiago Nunes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 46th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 50 minutes into the match, Fernandinho's goal looked a bit too open when Afonso Setúbal came free, but Júlio Gueifão reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Afonso Setúbal made a kick off. The supporters of SC Valhascos booed when Fernandinho was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 56 match minutes in a wonderful position. João Fontes didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 57 played minutes, SC Valhascos's Basílio Marques shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Júlio Gueifão came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in SC Valhascos reached it. Júlio Gueifão made an important save on a dangerous shot by Tiago Nunes in the 60th minute. Filipe Azevedo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from João Jesus in the 63rd minute of play. The audience was convinced that João Jesus's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Filipe Azevedo was relentless in the 64th minute of the game. Júlio Gueifão made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Afonso Setúbal in the 76th minute of play. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Cláudio Leal during the 84th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Fernando Garcia sent away a hard shot on goal in the 89th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 91 minutes into the match, SC Valhascos's goal looked a bit too open when Fernando Garcia came free, but Filipe Azevedo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When António Aguiar fell near the penalty area in the 95th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored SC Valhascos's protests and gave António Aguiar a yellow card for diving instead. After 95 played minutes SC Valhascos got a freekick which was hit by António Aguiar. João Jesus received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 96th minute. Filipe Azevedo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The teams fought very hard right up to the final whistle. Both sets of players were happy to go away with a draw.
