The audience thought a goal was coming when António Barros got free with Filipe Azevedo in the 18th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After 20 played minutes Catarino Aleixo rounded SC Valhascos's defense and shot a beautiful shot into goal via left pole - 1-0. With a little luck, SC Valhascos's Filipe Azevedo got control of the ball when António Barros tried to sneak it across the goal line. 24 minutes into the match, Catarino Aleixo dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Filipe Azevedo, 2-0. Gemezes FC's supporters rose to their feet, but António Barros was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post.
