With a couple of smart ball manuevers Álvaro Cunha in the 18th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg André Macedo saved SC Areja from getting behind. Nuno Assunção took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from João Costa, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 23rd minute Sebastião Matos shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Nuno Assunção saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After having played for 24 minutes, Sebastião Matos managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. SC Areja's supporters crossed their fingers, but Sebastião Matos was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 28 minutes into the match, Gustavo Gaspar notched a goal, 1-0, to the right of SC Areja's André Macedo. André Macedo was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. André Macedo showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Álvaro Cunha in the 31st minute of the match. After a rather tough play, SC Areja's Vítor Rodrigues got a free kick in the 32nd minute. Álvaro Cunha hit a great freekick 34 minutes into the match. In the 35th minute João Costa shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Nuno Assunção saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Nuno Assunção was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Albertino Viana showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-1 in the 81 minute of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when João Costa got free with Nuno Assunção in the 84th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. João Costa received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Nuno Assunção came out and tried to block the shot, but João Costa slotted it home off the left post making it 1-2 in the 88th minute. André Macedo showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Álvaro Cunha, who was totally free with the ball in the 93rd minute. The SC Areja supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing SC Areja would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
