Bernardo Cruz might have been able to make a better finish in the 5th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Heitor Mota. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Bernardo Cruz ran back to his position shaking his head. 9 minutes into the match, Manuel Sá notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of Gemieira's Heitor Mota. Heitor Mota was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. After 12 minutes, Manuel Dantas mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Gemieira and the SC Forneas players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 12 played minutes Gemieira got a freekick which was hit by Manuel Dantas. Gemieira's Heitor Mota played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Bernardo Cruz in the 13th minute of play. In the 16th match minute, Gemieira was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Eusébio Porto to maneuver through the defense. In the 17th match minute, Gemieira was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Eusébio Porto to maneuver through the defense. After recieving a nice pass, SC Forneas's Filipe Paredes tried to score from far away in the 21st minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. After having played for 23 minutes, Alfredo Faro managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Gemieira's supporters crossed their fingers, but Alfredo Faro was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 25 minutes into the game, SC Forneas's Bernardo Cruz nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Heitor Mota made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-2. If Alfredo Faro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 28th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Catarino Paiva showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gil Lisboa in the 29th minute of the match. Bruno Pacheco kicked well hit freekick during the 30th minute of the match. In the 32nd minute, SC Forneas's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Alfredo Faro fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. Catarino Paiva was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Gil Lisboa showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-2 in the 32 minute of play. After 43 minutes of play, SC Forneas's Manuel Sá made it 1-3 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Heitor Mota was left in no man's land by his defense there! After the first half SC Forneas were leading 1-3. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Gil Lisboa stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Alfredo Faro struck a weak shot in the 53rd minute. Catarino Paiva didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Gemieira. 56 minutes into the match, Gemieira's Alfredo Faro sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Catarino Paiva narrowly saved just below the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gil Lisboa in the 62nd minute of play forced SC Forneas's goalkeeper Catarino Paiva to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Gil Lisboa's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Catarino Paiva read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 69th minute of play. Catarino Paiva showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Alfredo Faro in the 71st minute of the match. In the 71st match minute, SC Forneas was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Bruno Pacheco to maneuver through the defense. In the 77th minute the ball was on its way in behind Gemieira's goalkeeper Heitor Mota, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. A collision led to Gemieira getting a freekick after 87 minutes play. Lourenço Assis hit a great ball. Bernardo Cruz struck a weak shot in the 89th minute. Heitor Mota didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for SC Forneas. Gil Lisboa sent away a hard shot on goal in the 90th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 92nd minute Gil Lisboa shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Catarino Paiva saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 93 minutes, Bruno Pacheco mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the SC Forneas and the Gemieira players grew even worse after the yellow card. Alfredo Faro blasted a shot towards the goal in the 95th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Catarino Paiva having to make a save. Bento Branco struck a weak shot in the 97th minute. Catarino Paiva didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Gemieira. The Gemieira supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching SC Forneas's performance. The match ended with a win for SC Forneas.
