When José Ribeiro came up free with the goalie in the 2nd minute, the Alfeite fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that José Ribeiro couldn't finish the play. After some fancy dribbling in the 4th minute, Simão Teixeira managed to get in a good position for a shot. Alfeite's supporters rose to their feet, but Simão Teixeira was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Filipe Azevedo breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The audience thought a goal was coming when Duarte Pinheiro got free with Alberto Pinheiro in the 18th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After 21 played minutes SC Cotelo got a freekick which was hit by Tomás Paiva. Simão Teixeira fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 22nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Filipe Azevedo having to interfere. If Adolfo Gomes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 27th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. With a little luck, Alfeite's Alberto Pinheiro got control of the ball when Duarte Pinheiro tried to sneak it across the goal line. SC Cotelo's Duarte Pinheiro got a good chance for a goal in the 36th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. When Daniel Torres fell near the penalty area in the 38th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Alfeite's protests and gave Daniel Torres a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Alfeite getting a freekick after 38 minutes play. Daniel Torres hit a great ball. The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Simão Teixeira was the one to do the kick off. José Ribeiro might have been able to make a better finish in the 51st minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Filipe Azevedo. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. José Ribeiro ran back to his position shaking his head. 56 minutes into the game, Hélder Figueiredo was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. SC Cotelo's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Alfeite the free kick. In the 56th match minute, SC Cotelo was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Hélder Figueiredo to maneuver through the defense. With a little luck, SC Cotelo's Filipe Azevedo got control of the ball when Adolfo Gomes tried to sneak it across the goal line. After 60 minutes, Jorge Brás made it 1-0 with a short kick to the right side. Alfeite's Alberto Pinheiro tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. If Duarte Pinheiro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 66th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Duarte Pinheiro sent away a hard shot on goal in the 69th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Duarte Pinheiro took the ball and in the 77 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Alberto Pinheiro. Alberto Pinheiro dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-0. After 80 played minutes SC Cotelo got a freekick which was hit by Vicente Macedo. Simão Teixeira received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 82nd minute. Filipe Azevedo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After having played for 86 minutes, Simão Teixeira managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Alfeite's supporters crossed their fingers, but Simão Teixeira was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Adolfo Gomes could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 88th minute of the match, but Filipe Azevedo made a huge save. Adolfo Gomes recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 92nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Filipe Azevedo made a fantastic save in the 96th minute, when Adolfo Gomes sent off a good shot on target. Many of Alfeite's supporters were seen to leave the ground early as it became clear their team was going to lose. Alfeite may have spent more time on the ball, but SC Cotelo were more willing to take their chances and they walked away with the win.
