The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Sérgio Pinto kicked well hit freekick during the 2nd minute of the match. António Brito sent away a hard shot on goal in the 11th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. In the 15th minute Joaquim Veiga shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Basílio Amaral saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Joaquim Veiga had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 20th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. António Brito sent away a hard shot on goal in the 22nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The audience thought a goal was coming when Rui Leão got free with Afonso Fontes in the 24th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Afonso Fontes stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Gil Cruz's shot from short distance in the 25th minute. Lúcio Barros hit a great freekick 26 minutes into the match. 30 minutes into the match, SC Remelhe's Gil Cruz sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Afonso Fontes narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Afonso Fontes took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Rui Leão, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side.
