Cláudio Carvalho kicked well hit freekick during the 11th minute of the match. Tiago Amaral made a well adjusted shot against goal in the 12thth minute coming free in front of the goal, but Afonso Porto would not let the ball come through at any expense and made a nice save by the left post. Afonso Porto made an important save on a dangerous shot by Amílcar Moura in the 14th minute. Afonso Porto took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Amílcar Moura, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 17th minute, one of Cacem FC:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Cacem FC. An unexpectedly hard shot by Afonso Brito in the 22nd minute of play forced Cacem FC's goalkeeper Jorge Castro to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 29th minute Amílcar Moura shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Afonso Porto saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Filipe Aleixo's late challenge caught a Sambrana FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Filipe Aleixo helped the player get up and apologised. After 31 played minutes Cacem FC got a freekick which was hit by Filipe Aleixo. After 39 played minutes Sambrana FC got a freekick which was hit by Vicente Lisboa. Sebastião Ferro received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 44th minute. Jorge Castro tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Sebastião Ferro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 46th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Amílcar Moura stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. After 59 minutes of play Cacem FC's Filipe Aleixo was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. The supporters of Sambrana FC booed when Cacem FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 60 match minutes in a wonderful position. Filipe Aleixo didn't get a good kick on the ball. Afonso Porto showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Tiago Amaral, who was totally free with the ball in the 65th minute. After a defensive mix-up in Cacem FC's zone, Afonso Brito stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jorge Castro came out of the goal and Afonso Brito tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. If Afonso Brito had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 71st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Sebastião Ferro struck a weak shot in the 74th minute. Jorge Castro didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Sambrana FC. Jorge Castro made an important save on a dangerous shot by Afonso Brito in the 77th minute. 80 minutes into the match, Sambrana FC's Afonso Brito sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Jorge Castro narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 85th minute, Sambrana FC's Sebastião Ferro ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Jorge Castro. Jorge Castro yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 0-2. After having played for 89 minutes, Sebastião Ferro managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Sambrana FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Sebastião Ferro was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Afonso Brito sent away a hard shot on goal in the 91st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.
