When Gabriel Faria fell near the penalty area in the 4th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Cotovia FC's protests and gave Gabriel Faria a yellow card for diving instead. Gabriel Faria hit a great freekick 4 minutes into the match. José Luz's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Miguel Fontes read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 6th minute of play. Catarino Mota received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 8th minute. Miguel Fontes tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. José Luz scored 1-1 in the 14th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Miguel Fontes, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. After 20 played minutes, Beca's Alexandre Vaz shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Miguel Fontes came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Beca reached it. Catarino Mota fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 31st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Miguel Fontes having to interfere. Miguel Fontes took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from José Luz, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. António Gonçalves fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 39th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Miguel Fontes having to interfere. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Miguel Reis to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 60th minute of the match, Catarino Mota got a very nice opportunity to score, but Miguel Fontes was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. After a rather tough play, Cotovia FC's Gabriel Faria got a free kick in the 65th minute. Catarino Mota fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 66th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Miguel Fontes having to interfere. Afonso Mendes's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Vasco Neto read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 76th minute of play. If Fernando Esteves had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 77th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.
