The audience thought a goal was coming when Vítor Valente got free with Pedro Freitas in the 10th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. If Rui Freitas had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 12th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After recieving a nice pass, SC Gondileu's Cláudio Aleixo tried to score from far away in the 19th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. Daniel Araújo hit a great freekick 22 minutes into the match. Vítor Valente came free with the goalkeeper in the 28th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Pedro Freitas could save by the left post. After having played for 30 minutes, Vítor Valente managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. SC Gondileu's supporters crossed their fingers, but Vítor Valente was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. If Vítor Valente had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 32nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Pedro Freitas showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Daniel Araújo, who was totally free with the ball in the 37th minute. A collision led to Barriga getting a freekick after 38 minutes play. Simão Marques hit a great ball. After a rather tough play, Barriga's Eduardo Costa got a free kick in the 43rd minute. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

In the 55th minute the ball was on its way in behind Barriga's goalkeeper Pedro Freitas, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Vítor Valente fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 59th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Pedro Freitas having to interfere. If Rui Freitas had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 67th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Eusébio Delgado received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 69th minute. Cristiano Moutinho tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Rui Freitas might have been able to make a better finish in the 73rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Cristiano Moutinho. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Barriga's Eusébio Delgado got a good chance for a goal in the 90th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Vítor Valente in the 92nd minute of play forced Barriga's goalkeeper Pedro Freitas to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 93rd minute Daniel Araújo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Pedro Freitas saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Barriga's Rui Freitas got a good chance for a goal in the 96th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Barriga's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
