The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After some careless play in the Assobreiras defense, Manuel Pereira kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Paulo Torres. The Assobreiras fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Paulo Torres should have stopped the shot. Assobreiras's Fernando Ferro got a good chance for a goal in the 9th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Joaquim Pinto showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Rui Araújo, who was totally free with the ball in the 10th minute. Fernando Anjos struck a weak shot in the 18th minute. Paulo Torres didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Bemlhevai. Alexandre Santarém kicked well hit freekick during the 19th minute of the match. When Joaquim Carneiro fell near the penalty area in the 24th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Assobreiras's protests and gave Joaquim Carneiro a yellow card for diving instead. Fernando Anjos received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 33rd minute. Paulo Torres tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 35 minutes into the match, Assobreiras's Fernando Ferro sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Joaquim Pinto narrowly saved just below the crossbar. 40 minutes into the match, Bemlhevai's goal looked a bit too open when Ricardo Vaz came free, but Joaquim Pinto reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Alexandre Santarém got his second yellow card in the match during the 42nd minute which meant that he had to leave the ground. Manuel Pereira struck a weak shot in the 44th minute. Paulo Torres didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Bemlhevai. In the 47thth minute of the game Manuel Pereira who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Assobreiras's Paulo Torres was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-0.

The wind increased when Manuel Pereira made the kick off in the second half. Manuel Pereira's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Paulo Torres read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 51st minute of play. Assobreiras's Paulo Torres played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Fernando Anjos in the 56th minute of play. When the match had gone on for 59 minutes, Manuel Pereira put it in 3-0 from a short distance just to the right of Paulo Torres. In the 70th minute, Fernando Anjos got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. A collision led to Bemlhevai getting a freekick after 73 minutes play. Gaspar Gueifão hit a great ball. Fernando Anjos sent away a hard shot on goal in the 78th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 85th minute the ball was on its way in behind Bemlhevai's goalkeeper Joaquim Pinto, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Augusto Ramos hit a great freekick 89 minutes into the match. Manuel Pereira blasted a shot towards the goal in the 95th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Paulo Torres having to make a save. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Bemlhevai fans cheered their team off the field, for while Assobreiras had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
