The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. If António Brito had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 15th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 19th minute of the match, Vicente Moniz tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Rui Ramos saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. Bento Martins's late challenge caught a Sortelha FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Bento Martins helped the player get up and apologised. Bento Martins hit a great freekick 36 minutes into the match. After a rather tough play, Silgueiros's Luís Rodrigues got a free kick in the 38th minute. 39 minutes into the match, Sortelha FC's Cristóvão Pinto broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. Vicente Moniz fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 40th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Rui Ramos having to interfere. 42 minutes into the match, Silgueiros's goalkeeper Rui Ramos had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Diamantino Vieira. Silgueiros's Rui Ramos proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 46th minute of the match, managed to save Silgueiros from getting a goal against them. Diamantino Vieira struck a weak shot in the 47th minute. Rui Ramos didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Sortelha FC. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

A collision led to Silgueiros getting a freekick after 51 minutes play. Mário Nascimento hit a great ball. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Diamantino Vieira in the 53rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Rui Ramos prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Rui Ramos took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Vicente Moniz, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The supporters of Sortelha FC booed when Silgueiros was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 58 match minutes in a wonderful position. Emílio Sá didn't get a good kick on the ball. Cristóvão Pinto, 59 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. Xavier Amaral made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Paulo Borges in the 63rd minute of play. When Luís Rodrigues fell near the penalty area in the 64th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Silgueiros's protests and gave Luís Rodrigues a yellow card for diving instead. After a rather tough play, Silgueiros's Luís Rodrigues got a free kick in the 64th minute. Rui Ramos showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Vicente Moniz in the 65th minute of the match. Sortelha FC's Vicente Moniz got a good chance for a goal in the 67th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Eduardo Lisboa charged in rather forcefully in the 68th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Eduardo Lisboa the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. 71 minutes into the match, Vicente Moniz notched a goal, 2-0, to the right of Silgueiros's Rui Ramos. Rui Ramos was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Vicente Moniz's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Rui Ramos read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 80th minute of play. Vicente Moniz struck a weak shot in the 85th minute. Rui Ramos didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Sortelha FC. After 87 minutes of play, Sortelha FC's Diamantino Vieira made it 3-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Rui Ramos was left in no man's land by his defense there! In the 95thth minute of the game Diamantino Vieira who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Silgueiros's Rui Ramos was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Diamantino Vieira received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 97th minute. Rui Ramos tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Sortelha FC's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
