When Paulo Garcia fell near the penalty area in the 4th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored SC Melgaco's protests and gave Paulo Garcia a yellow card for diving instead. Paulo Garcia hit a great freekick 4 minutes into the match. Penaventosa FC's Luís Sá played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Fernando Esteves in the 12th minute of play. Fernando Esteves struck a weak shot in the 15th minute. Luís Sá didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for SC Melgaco. When the match had gone on for 15 minutes, Fernando Esteves put it in 0-1 from a short distance just to the right of Luís Sá. When Daniel Cunha fell near the penalty area in the 20th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Penaventosa FC's protests and gave Daniel Cunha a yellow card for diving instead. Daniel Cunha hit a great freekick 20 minutes into the match. After 29 minutes, Cristiano Garcia made it 1-1 with a short kick to the right side. SC Melgaco's Delfim Leal tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 33rd minute Basílio Andrade shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Luís Sá saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. SC Melgaco's Delfim Leal played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Bernardo Nunes in the 34th minute of play. After a rather tough play, SC Melgaco's Cândido Nunes got a free kick in the 38th minute. A collision led to SC Melgaco getting a freekick after 43 minutes play. Cândido Nunes hit a great ball. 46 minutes into the match, SC Melgaco's goal looked a bit too open when Bernardo Nunes came free, but Delfim Leal reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Bernardo Nunes stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 60th minute, Óscar Almeida hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The crowd rose to their feet as SC Melgaco's Fernando Esteves slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Luís Sá. That made the score 2-2 after 68 minutes of play. In the 73rd minute, Cristiano Leite hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 80 minutes into the match, Penaventosa FC's goal looked a bit too open when Basílio Andrade came free, but Luís Sá reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Cristiano Garcia fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 82nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Delfim Leal having to interfere. Cristiano Garcia's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Delfim Leal read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 85th minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 89th minute, Basílio Andrade managed to get in a good position for a shot. SC Melgaco's supporters rose to their feet, but Basílio Andrade was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Luís Sá breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Luís Sá made a fantastic save in the 90th minute, when Fernando Esteves sent off a good shot on target. Paulo Garcia fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 93rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Luís Sá having to interfere. Luís Sá stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Basílio Andrade's shot from short distance in the 95th minute. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Basílio Andrade in the 97th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Luís Sá prevented the ball from getting in the gole.
