An unexpectedly hard shot by Marco Figueiredo in the 6th minute of play forced SC Viela's goalkeeper Sérgio Viana to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Rui Queirós's late challenge caught a SC Corvo's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Rui Queirós helped the player get up and apologised. After 17 played minutes SC Viela got a freekick which was hit by Rui Queirós. Sérgio Viana showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Marco Figueiredo, who was totally free with the ball in the 18th minute. Ricardo Borba fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 29th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Fernando Garcia having to interfere. If Ricardo Borba had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 35th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Fernando Garcia showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from António Pedroso, who was totally free with the ball in the 37th minute. In the 41st minute the ball was on its way in behind SC Viela's goalkeeper Sérgio Viana, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar.
