João Valente sent away a hard shot on goal in the 4th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. António Pacheco showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Heitor Pires, who was totally free with the ball in the 7th minute. 13 minutes into the match, Novelhos FC's goal looked a bit too open when Jorge Vieira came free, but Afonso Vale reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Afonso Vale showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jorge Vieira in the 15th minute of the match. Diogo Simões kicked well hit freekick during the 15th minute of the match. In the 20th minute the ball was on its way in behind Crueis's goalkeeper António Pacheco, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After 25 played minutes Novelhos FC got a freekick which was hit by Armando Leal. With an all-out effort, Crueis's Afonso Vale threw himself towards the right post 26 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Jorge Vieira, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Heitor Pires sent away a hard shot on goal in the 31st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a rather tough play, Crueis's Vítor Santarém got a free kick in the 32nd minute. Rui Maia sent away a hard shot on goal in the 39th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. António Pacheco took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Armando Leal, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Rui Maia had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 43rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Heitor Pires came up free with the goalie in the 45th minute, the Novelhos FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Heitor Pires couldn't finish the play. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

After a defensive mix-up in Crueis's zone, Armando Leal stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. António Pacheco came out of the goal and Armando Leal tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Jorge Vieira received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 62nd minute. Afonso Vale tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Rui Maia fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 65th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Afonso Vale having to interfere. Crueis's António Pacheco proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 73rd minute of the match, managed to save Crueis from getting a goal against them. In the 74th minute, Armando Leal got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Jorge Vieira in the 90th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Afonso Vale prevented the ball from getting in the gole. The teams fought very hard right up to the final whistle. Both sets of players were happy to go away with a draw.
