Cândido Viegas made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. 8 minutes into the match, Abel Santos had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Cândido Viegas. Chumbaria's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Abel Santos was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-2. SC Estroil's Pedro Coelho played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gil Porto in the 12th minute of play. Cândido Viegas showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Abel Santos, who was totally free with the ball in the 20th minute. When Cristiano Lima came up free with the goalie in the 21st minute, the SC Estroil fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Cristiano Lima couldn't finish the play. After 26 played minutes SC Estroil got a freekick which was hit by João Campos. Manuel Pinho's late challenge caught a Chumbaria's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Manuel Pinho helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Chumbaria booed when SC Estroil was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 35 match minutes in a wonderful position. Manuel Pinho didn't get a good kick on the ball. Gil Porto sent away a hard shot on goal in the 37th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Cristiano Lima had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 39th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-2.

The ball looked like it was going in, but it was hit a bit too hard and flew over the goal. SC Estroil's Abel Santos was standing unmarked in front of the goal when he, in the 65th play minute, got the ball and easily drilled it into the goal. Gil Porto received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 71st minute. Pedro Coelho tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Pedro Coelho showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gil Porto in the 74th minute of the match. Gil Porto fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 76th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Pedro Coelho having to interfere. Amadeu Borges sent away a hard shot on goal in the 88th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 95 played minutes Chumbaria got a freekick which was hit by Óscar Figueiredo. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched SC Estroil eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
