The audience thought a goal was coming when Francisco Faria got free with Cândido Viegas in the 24th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The supporters of Pombal FC booed when Chumbaria was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 38 match minutes in a wonderful position. Diamantino Porto didn't get a good kick on the ball. André Resende was slow to take the kick. During this time Pombal FC's players had a chance to rest. Pombal FC's André Resende was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Cândido Viegas in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. Amadeu Borges received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 98th minute. Delfim Vieira tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Chumbaria walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
