The supporters of Sapiaos booed when Faro was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 3 match minutes in a wonderful position. Filipe Assis didn't get a good kick on the ball. Paulo Amaral showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Simão Moura, who was totally free with the ball in the 4th minute. Faro's Paulo Amaral played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Simão Moura in the 6th minute of play. Lúcio Pinho got in the 7th a clear chance and fired away a hard shot against goal, but Paulo Amaral handled the situation perfectly and made a save by the crossbar. Afonso Pinho showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Rodrigo Neves in the 10th minute of the match. A collision led to Sapiaos getting a freekick after 11 minutes play. Ricardo Valente hit a great ball. After some careless play in the Sapiaos defense, Gil Simões kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Afonso Pinho. The Sapiaos fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Afonso Pinho should have stopped the shot. Gil Simões could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 18th minute of the match, but Afonso Pinho made a huge save. The audience was convinced that Lúcio Pinho's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Paulo Amaral was relentless in the 19th minute of the game. Sapiaos's Afonso Pinho played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Rodrigo Neves in the 22nd minute of play. Ricardo Valente's late challenge caught a Faro's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Ricardo Valente didn't get a good kick on the ball. With a little luck, Sapiaos's Afonso Pinho got control of the ball when Gil Simões tried to sneak it across the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Sapiaos's zone, Gil Simões stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Afonso Pinho came out of the goal and Gil Simões tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 30 minutes into the match, Faro's goal looked a bit too open when Simão Moura came free, but Paulo Amaral reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Filipe Assis was shown his second yellow card after 30 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. Sapiaos's supporters crossed their fingers, but Simão Moura was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Paulo Amaral took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Lúcio Pinho, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Gil Simões to make the kick off. Simão Moura fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 57th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Paulo Amaral having to interfere. A collision led to Faro getting a freekick after 59 minutes play. Rui Carvalho hit a great ball. After recieving a nice pass, Sapiaos's Tomás Nogueira tried to score from far away in the 60th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. In the 62nd match minute, Faro was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Rodrigo Neves to maneuver through the defense. Sapiaos's Tomás Nogueira couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 63rd minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Faro. When Gil Simões came up free with the goalie in the 66th minute, the Faro fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Gil Simões couldn't finish the play. Paulo Santos kicked well hit freekick during the 67th minute of the match. Faro's Gil Simões got a good chance for a goal in the 69th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Paulo Santos hit a great freekick 70 minutes into the match. Afonso Pinho showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Rodrigo Neves, who was totally free with the ball in the 72nd minute. Gil Simões fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 85th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Afonso Pinho having to interfere. Rui Carvalho recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 86th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Simão Moura received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 88th minute. Paulo Amaral tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After having played for 94 minutes, Rodrigo Neves managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Faro's supporters crossed their fingers, but Rodrigo Neves was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The second half was just like the first, even and exciting. The match ended in a draw.
