After a defensive mix-up in Cardosas's zone, Duarte Branco stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Paulo Andrade came out of the goal and Duarte Branco tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Gonçalo Guerreiro received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 24th minute. Paulo Andrade tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After some fancy dribbling in the 30th minute, Jorge Andrade managed to get in a good position for a shot. Cardosas's supporters rose to their feet, but Jorge Andrade was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Jaime Macedo breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. With a little luck, Umbria's Jaime Macedo got control of the ball when Vasco Pinho tried to sneak it across the goal line. 40 minutes into the match, Umbria's goalkeeper Jaime Macedo had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Vasco Pinho. An unexpectedly hard shot by Duarte Branco in the 97th minute of play forced Cardosas's goalkeeper Paulo Andrade to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.
