The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Lucas Figueiredo kicked well hit freekick during the 6th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Daniel Brás in the 10th minute of play forced Paulinos's goalkeeper José Gonçalves to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Emílio Fernandes sent away a hard shot on goal in the 12th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Mariano Borges fell near the penalty area in the 18th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored SC Cuba's protests and gave Mariano Borges a yellow card for diving instead. Mariano Borges hit a great freekick 18 minutes into the match. Luís Pires fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 24th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Diamantino Araújo having to interfere. José Gonçalves made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Daniel Brás in the 26th minute of play. Emanuel Rocha charged in rather forcefully in the 29th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Emanuel Rocha the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 30 played minutes SC Cuba got a freekick which was hit by Emanuel Rocha. Luís Pires's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 32ndth minute, Diamantino Araújo skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. In the 37th minute, Emílio Fernandes got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 39 minutes into the match, SC Cuba's goal looked a bit too open when Eduardo Cardoso came free, but Diamantino Araújo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The crowd rose to their feet as Paulinos's Eduardo Cardoso slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Diamantino Araújo. That made the score 1-0 after 41 minutes of play. Emanuel Rocha hit a great freekick 45 minutes into the match. Luís Pires sent away a hard shot on goal in the 48th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.

Daniel Brás fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 53rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without José Gonçalves having to interfere. Diamantino Araújo took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Eduardo Cardoso, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Carlos Silva's late challenge caught a Paulinos's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Carlos Silva helped the player get up and apologised. Carlos Silva hit a great freekick 57 minutes into the match. If Eduardo Cardoso had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 59th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 65th minute Eduardo Cardoso shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Diamantino Araújo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Paulinos's zone, Emílio Fernandes stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. José Gonçalves came out of the goal and Emílio Fernandes tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. If Daniel Brás had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 70th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Emanuel Rocha was shown his second yellow card after 83 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. Emanuel Rocha hit a great freekick 84 minutes into the match. Eduardo Cardoso received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 88th minute. Diamantino Araújo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Eduardo Cardoso's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Diamantino Araújo read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 96th minute of play. Paulinos's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
