The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Alares's supporters crossed their fingers, but Pedro Fonseca was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Mariano Queirós showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Rodrigo Borges in the 28th minute of the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 30th minute, Rodrigo Borges managed to get in a good position for a shot. SC Coucao's supporters rose to their feet, but Rodrigo Borges was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Mariano Queirós breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After 36 played minutes Alares got a freekick which was hit by Miguel Domingues. Through an outstanding action, after 39 minutes, Mariano Queirós successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. When João Matias came up free with the goalie in the 40th minute, the SC Coucao fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that João Matias couldn't finish the play.

The supporters of Alares booed when SC Coucao was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 80 match minutes in a wonderful position. Miguel Soares didn't get a good kick on the ball. Miguel Soares's late challenge caught a Alares's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Miguel Soares helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to SC Coucao getting a freekick after 83 minutes play. Miguel Soares hit a great ball. Pedro Fonseca hit a great freekick 84 minutes into the match. Mariano Queirós came out of the goal in the 86th minute to try and stop a shot by SC Coucao's João Matias. But to his dismay, João Matias quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-1. João Matias sent away a hard shot on goal in the 93rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. An unexpectedly hard shot by André Macedo in the 96th minute of play forced SC Coucao's goalkeeper Luís Vaz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. SC Coucao's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
