João Pires blasted a shot towards the goal in the 10th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Ricardo Assis having to make a save. João Pires charged in rather forcefully in the 12th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed João Pires the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. A collision led to Ventusela FC getting a freekick after 12 minutes play. João Pires hit a great ball. When Joaquim Matias came up free with the goalie in the 16th minute, the Pontevel FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Joaquim Matias couldn't finish the play. 20 minutes into the game, Lourenço Cunha was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Ventusela FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Pontevel FC the free kick. 21 minutes into the match, Pontevel FC's Américo Abreu sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Miguel Fonseca narrowly saved just below the crossbar. João Pires struck a weak shot in the 24th minute. Ricardo Assis didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Ventusela FC. In the 29th minute, Américo Abreu ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Miguel Fonseca was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. Américo Abreu's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Miguel Fonseca read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 43rd minute of play. João Pires received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 46th minute. Ricardo Assis tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Joaquim Matias's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Miguel Fonseca read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 48th minute of play. After the first half Pontevel FC were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Américo Abreu stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 52nd minute the ball was on its way in behind Ventusela FC's goalkeeper Miguel Fonseca, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Miguel Fonseca was a little too slow when Américo Abreu got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 57th minute. The score was now 0-2. The audience thought a goal was coming when Joaquim Matias got free with Miguel Fonseca in the 72nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. João Pires sent away a hard shot on goal in the 77th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The referee gave Lourenço Cunha a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. In the 94th minute, Lourenço Cunha hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After some fancy dribbling in the 96th minute, Américo Abreu managed to get in a good position for a shot. Pontevel FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Américo Abreu was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Miguel Fonseca breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The Ventusela FC fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Pontevel FC were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
