Tomás Moutinho made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. In the 13th minute of the match Cristiano Setúbal shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Tomás Moutinho showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Júlio Resende during the 16th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 16th match minute, Vilarinha FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Júlio Resende to maneuver through the defense. The supporters of Vieiras FC booed when Vilarinha FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 18 match minutes in a wonderful position. Pedro Sá didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 21st minute Vieiras FC were awarded a corner. Cristiano Cardoso went to the cornerflag to take it. Júlio Resende recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 24th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Fernando Borges charged in rather forcefully in the 26th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Fernando Borges the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 26th minute, Fernando Borges hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a rather tough play, Vieiras FC's Amílcar Fonseca got a free kick in the 35th minute. Júlio Resende fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 36th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Daniel Branco having to interfere. Cristiano Setúbal hit a great freekick 37 minutes into the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by António Neto in the 39th minute of play forced Vieiras FC's goalkeeper Daniel Branco to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Fernando Borges was shown his second yellow card after 45 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. A collision led to Vilarinha FC getting a freekick after 45 minutes play. Fernando Borges hit a great ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Amílcar Fonseca in the 48th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Tomás Moutinho saved Vilarinha FC from getting behind. After the first half Vieiras FC were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Júlio Resende made a kick off. When Amílcar Fonseca came up free with the goalie in the 54th minute, the Vieiras FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Amílcar Fonseca couldn't finish the play. After a defensive mix-up in Vieiras FC's zone, Júlio Resende stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Daniel Branco came out of the goal and Júlio Resende tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. José Rocha hit a great freekick 58 minutes into the match. Júlio Resende sent away a hard shot on goal in the 60th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 71 minutes into the match, Vieiras FC's goal looked a bit too open when Duarte Coimbra came free, but Daniel Branco reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 78 minutes into the match, Vilarinha FC's goalkeeper Tomás Moutinho had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Simão Vale. When Simão Vale came up free with the goalie in the 81st minute, the Vieiras FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Simão Vale couldn't finish the play. In the 83rd minute, Vilarinha FC's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Amílcar Fonseca fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. Tomás Moutinho made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Amílcar Fonseca in the 88th minute of play. 94 minutes into the match, Simão Vale had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Tomás Moutinho. Vilarinha FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Simão Vale was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-3. Vieiras FC's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
