When João Borges came up free with the goalie in the 9th minute, the Sabugo fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that João Borges couldn't finish the play. Amadeu Amaro received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Eusébio Ferro came out and tried to block the shot, but Amadeu Amaro slotted it home off the left post making it 1-0 in the 10th minute. The supporters of Betunes booed when Sabugo was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 16 match minutes in a wonderful position. Domingos Setúbal didn't get a good kick on the ball. Fernando Moniz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from João Borges in the 21st minute of play. A collision led to Betunes getting a freekick after 26 minutes play. In the 41st minute of the match José Henriques sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Fernando Moniz skillfully saved the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 43rd minute, João Borges managed to get in a good position for a shot. Sabugo's supporters rose to their feet, but João Borges was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Fernando Moniz breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Sabugo. Eusébio Ferro went to the wrong direction when Bruno Mendes was taking care of the penalty kick which however missed the goal. 78 minutes into the game, Filipe Domingues cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-3. Eusébio Ferro was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. After a rather tough play, Sabugo's Hugo Macedo got a free kick in the 85th minute. Amadeu Amaro took the ball and in the 97 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Eusébio Ferro. Eusébio Ferro dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 4-3.
