With an extended leg and a bit of luck Cândido Paredes prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Carlos Amaral could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 39th minute of the match, but Eusébio Ferro made a huge save. João Borges sent away a hard shot on goal in the 41st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 42nd minute, Luís Esteves hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field.
