Spectators: 32 (Terracing: 25, Seating: 7, VIP seats: 0) It was fairly windy and cold on the field when João Rodrigues kicked off to start the match. Cristiano Bessa took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 3rd minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Miguel Resende. SC Medeiros's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Manuel Andrade might have been able to make a better finish in the 7th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over David Anjos. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Manuel Andrade ran back to his position shaking his head. After having played for 9 minutes, Ricardo Luz managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. SC Lara's supporters crossed their fingers, but Ricardo Luz was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Afonso Assis in the 11th minute of play forced SC Lara's goalkeeper David Anjos to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. SC Medeiros's Manuel Andrade got a good chance for a goal in the 13th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by João Rodrigues in the 15th minute of play forced SC Medeiros's goalkeeper Miguel Resende to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 18 minutes into the match, SC Medeiros's goal looked a bit too open when João Rodrigues came free, but Miguel Resende reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Miguel Resende took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from João Rodrigues, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 21 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for SC Lara! If Afonso Assis had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 25th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Afonso Assis's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but David Anjos read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 27th minute of play. In the 29th minute, José Neves got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Miguel Resende showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ricardo Luz, who was totally free with the ball in the 31st minute. Afonso Assis received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 35th minute. David Anjos tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 41st minute José Neves shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Miguel Resende saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 67 played minutes, SC Medeiros's Nuno Dantas shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper David Anjos came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in SC Medeiros reached it. In the 68th match minute, SC Lara was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ricardo Luz to maneuver through the defense. Afonso Assis recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 70th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 72nd minute Afonso Assis shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but David Anjos saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. David Anjos made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Manuel Andrade in the 78th minute of play. 79 minutes into the game, José Neves was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. SC Lara's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave SC Medeiros the free kick. A collision led to SC Lara getting a freekick after 79 minutes play. José Neves hit a great ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 81st minute, Afonso Assis managed to get in a good position for a shot. SC Medeiros's supporters rose to their feet, but Afonso Assis was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. David Anjos breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Manuel Andrade fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 83rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without David Anjos having to interfere. Afonso Assis's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but David Anjos read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 86th minute of play. SC Lara's David Anjos played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Afonso Assis in the 89th minute of play. After 89 minutes of play, SC Medeiros's Afonso Assis made it 1-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. David Anjos was left in no man's land by his defense there! SC Lara's David Anjos played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Afonso Assis in the 96th minute of play. SC Medeiros's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
