Eusébio Cardoso sent away a hard shot on goal in the 15th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Amílcar Pacheco took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from André Amaral, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a rather tough play, Tom's Rui Reis got a free kick in the 24th minute. Carlos Fonseca was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 25th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. Amílcar Pacheco showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from André Amaral in the 30th minute of the match. André Porto might have been able to make a better finish in the 35th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Adelino Machado. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. André Porto ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 36th match minute, SC Zimbral was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Manuel Costa to maneuver through the defense. After a defensive mix-up in SC Zimbral's zone, Jacinto Lima stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Adelino Machado came out of the goal and Jacinto Lima tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 39th minute, SC Zimbral's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Jacinto Lima fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. After a defensive mix-up in Tom's zone, Lucas Leal stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Amílcar Pacheco came out of the goal and Lucas Leal tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 46th minute, André Amaral made a precise shot to the right of Amílcar Pacheco. Tom's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-1. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell André Amaral to make the kick off. André Amaral really showed his touch with that goal: 1-2. Jacinto Lima's late challenge caught a SC Zimbral's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Jacinto Lima helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to Tom getting a freekick after 64 minutes play.
