Castelaos's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Dem the free kick. After 2 played minutes Castelaos got a freekick which was hit by Cristiano Esteves. If Júlio Dias had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 5th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Eduardo Garcia showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Rogério Gaspar in the 9th minute of the match. Dem's Eduardo Garcia played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by José Melo in the 14th minute of play. Eduardo Garcia made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Rogério Gaspar in the 17th minute of play. A hard shot 18 in the game by José Melo from a close distance when the talented Eduardo Garcia managed to make a qualified save. Dem's players were relieved. In the 21st minute, Cristiano Figueiredo got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The supporters of Dem booed when Castelaos was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 22 match minutes in a wonderful position. Cristiano Esteves didn't get a good kick on the ball. Dem's Eduardo Garcia played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Rogério Gaspar in the 26th minute of play. José Melo's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Eduardo Garcia read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 29th minute of play. In the 35th match minute, Castelaos was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by André Silva to maneuver through the defense. In the 39th minute the ball was on its way in behind Castelaos's goalkeeper Ricardo Borges, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 43rd minute, Júlio Dias ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Ricardo Borges was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. Júlio Dias fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 48th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ricardo Borges having to interfere. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

Júlio Dias could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 52nd minute of the match, but Ricardo Borges made a huge save. Cristiano Figueiredo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 57th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 59th minute the ball was on its way in behind Dem's goalkeeper Eduardo Garcia, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. The supporters of Castelaos booed when Dem was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 63 match minutes in a wonderful position. Amadeu Monteiro didn't get a good kick on the ball. Ricardo Borges made a fantastic save in the 66th minute, when Júlio Dias sent off a good shot on target. After some fancy dribbling in the 67th minute, Cristiano Figueiredo managed to get in a good position for a shot. Dem's supporters rose to their feet, but Cristiano Figueiredo was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Ricardo Borges breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by André Coelho during the 70th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 70th match minute, Dem was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by André Coelho to maneuver through the defense. José Melo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 95th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Eduardo Garcia having to interfere. The Dem supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Dem would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
