After 12 played minutes Mealhada got a freekick which was hit by Oliveira Dantas. Amadeu Rodrigues received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 14th minute. Pedro Neves tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Amadeu Rodrigues's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Pedro Neves read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 16th minute of play. Manuel Pedroso sent away a hard shot on goal in the 18th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a rather tough play, Mealhada's André Figueiredo got a free kick in the 20th minute. After 22 played minutes, Povoa FC's António Amaro shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Pedro Neves came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Povoa FC reached it. In the 22nd minute, Afonso Lisboa hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Pedro Neves took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Amadeu Rodrigues, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 25th minute the ball was on its way in behind Mealhada's goalkeeper Pedro Neves, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Amadeu Rodrigues sent away a hard shot on goal in the 29th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. An unexpectedly hard shot by Júlio Delgado in the 30th minute of play forced Povoa FC's goalkeeper Vítor Carvalho to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Amadeu Rodrigues received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 32nd minute. Pedro Neves tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 35th minute of the match Nuno Mendes sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Vítor Carvalho skillfully saved the ball. In the 36thth minute of the game Amadeu Rodrigues who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Mealhada's Pedro Neves was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. António Torres hit a great freekick 39 minutes into the match. André Cunha fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 41st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Vítor Carvalho having to interfere. The supporters of Mealhada booed when Povoa FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 43 match minutes in a wonderful position. Nuno Rocha didn't get a good kick on the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by André Cunha in the 44th minute of play forced Povoa FC's goalkeeper Vítor Carvalho to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Pedro Neves took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Amadeu Rodrigues, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Oliveira Dantas was shown his second yellow card after 47 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. After a rather tough play, Mealhada's Oliveira Dantas got a free kick in the 48th minute. Manuel Pedroso could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 49th minute of the match, but Pedro Neves made a huge save. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell André Cunha to make the kick off. Mealhada's Pedro Neves played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Amadeu Rodrigues in the 53rd minute of play. Vítor Carvalho showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Luís Gueifão in the 64th minute of the match. Pedro Neves made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Amadeu Rodrigues in the 67th minute of play. A collision led to Mealhada getting a freekick after 75 minutes play. Hugo Cardoso hit a great ball. Mealhada's Pedro Neves played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Amadeu Rodrigues in the 81st minute of play. 85 minutes into the match, Mealhada's goal looked a bit too open when Manuel Pedroso came free, but Pedro Neves reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Amadeu Rodrigues in the 86th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Pedro Neves saved Mealhada from getting behind. After a rather tough play, Mealhada's André Cunha got a free kick in the 88th minute. Amadeu Rodrigues sent away a hard shot on goal in the 89th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Júlio Delgado during the 92nd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Amadeu Rodrigues fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 93rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Pedro Neves having to interfere. In the 95th minute, Manuel Pedroso got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. For all the effort they put into the match, the Mealhada players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Povoa FC.
