In a very dangerous position, a player in SC Taveira fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 6th minute. Penalty! After some fancy dribbling in the 19th minute, Henrique Aleixo managed to get in a good position for a shot. SC Taveira's supporters rose to their feet, but Henrique Aleixo was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Lúcio Pinto breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Gaspar Maia struck a weak shot in the 22nd minute. Lúcio Pinto didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for SC Taveira. An unexpectedly hard shot by Carlos Alves in the 24th minute of play forced SC Taveira's goalkeeper Pedro Neves to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Jorge Matos during the 31st minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The supporters of Babe booed when SC Taveira was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 31 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jorge Matos didn't get a good kick on the ball. After having played for 32 minutes, Eduardo Santarém managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Babe's supporters crossed their fingers, but Eduardo Santarém was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Ricardo Fontes's late challenge caught a SC Taveira's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Ricardo Fontes helped the player get up and apologised. If Carlos Alves had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 39th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Jorge Matos to make the kick off. If Eduardo Santarém had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 53rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 57th minute Jorge Matos shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Lúcio Pinto saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Henrique Aleixo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 59th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. An unexpected shot in the 64th minute by Carlos Alves got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. Pedro Neves showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Eduardo Santarém, who was totally free with the ball in the 65th minute. Eduardo Santarém fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 67th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Pedro Neves having to interfere. If Henrique Aleixo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 70th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Gaspar Barros fell near the penalty area in the 77th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored SC Taveira's protests and gave Gaspar Barros a yellow card for diving instead. After 77 played minutes SC Taveira got a freekick which was hit by Gaspar Barros. Carlos Alves sent away a hard shot on goal in the 79th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 84 played minutes Babe got a freekick which was hit by Ricardo Fontes. Américo Esteves, 85 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. Jorge Matos sent away a hard shot on goal in the 87th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 88 played minutes Babe got a freekick which was hit by Oliveira Ramos. Henrique Aleixo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 92nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Lúcio Pinto having to interfere. Eduardo Santarém received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 94th minute. Pedro Neves tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Pedro Neves showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Carlos Alves in the 98th minute of the match.
