In the 6th minute of the match Augusto Pinto sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Hugo Leal skillfully saved the ball. In the 7th minute, Amílcar Barros hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Jaime Guerreiro received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 14th minute. Hugo Leal tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The audience thought a goal was coming when Domingos Gaspar got free with Hugo Leal in the 17th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 18 minutes into the match, Domingos Gaspar notched a goal, 1-0, to the right of Coimbra FC's Hugo Leal. Hugo Leal was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Hugo Leal made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jaime Guerreiro in the 29th minute of play. In the 33rd minute of the match Diamantino Pinheiro shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Rafael Branco showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Catarino Macedo struck a weak shot in the 41st minute. Rafael Branco didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Coimbra FC. In the 44th minute, Catarino Macedo ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Rafael Branco was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-1. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Catarino Macedo to make the kick off. Coimbra FC's Jacinto Pinheiro got a good chance for a goal in the 51st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Jacinto Pinheiro might have been able to make a better finish in the 54th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Rafael Branco. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Jacinto Pinheiro ran back to his position shaking his head. Catarino Macedo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 58th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Rafael Branco having to interfere. Jacinto Pinheiro sent away a hard shot on goal in the 61st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 63 minutes into the match, Coimbra FC's Catarino Macedo sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Rafael Branco narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Jacinto Pinheiro could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 64th minute of the match, but Rafael Branco made a huge save. 66 minutes into the match, SC Oleirinhos's goal looked a bit too open when Catarino Macedo came free, but Rafael Branco reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Catarino Macedo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 73rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a rather tough play, Coimbra FC's Amadeu Ribeiro got a free kick in the 77th minute. If Jacinto Pinheiro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 88th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Jaime Guerreiro fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 94th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Hugo Leal having to interfere. When the referee blew the final whistle, you could see the dissatisfaction in the Coimbra FC players' eyes. They were disappointed they hadn't taken more from the game.
