The corner went over the outstretched arms of Porteira FC's goalie and right to Rogério Domingues. He fired away a shot at goal, but the shot had too much spin, and it went just outside the goal. Porteira FC's manager breathed a sigh of relief on the sidelines as his team had managed to escape an almost certain goal. In the 18th minute Simão Brito shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Álvaro Tavares saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Rui Aleixo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 19th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Álvaro Tavares made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Simão Brito in the 22nd minute of play. Miguel Carneiro received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 25th minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 28th minute, Miguel Carneiro managed to get in a good position for a shot. Porteira FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Miguel Carneiro was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Adelino Cunha breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. If Miguel Carneiro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 32nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 36 played minutes Lamares got a freekick which was hit by Rogério Domingues. If Miguel Carneiro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 39th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Artur Baptista came up free with the goalie in the 46th minute, the Porteira FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Artur Baptista couldn't finish the play. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Artur Baptista made a kick off. An unexpectedly hard shot by Artur Baptista in the 53rd minute of play forced Lamares's goalkeeper Adelino Cunha to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.
