Heitor Carvalho showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Raul Machado in the 3rd minute of the match. 5 minutes into the match, Martianas's goalkeeper Manuel Pinho had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Pedro Amaro. After a rather tough play, SC Saramaga's Alexandre Gomes got a free kick in the 8th minute. A collision led to SC Saramaga getting a freekick after 10 minutes play. Miguel Assis hit a great ball. Through an outstanding action, after 13 minutes, Manuel Pinho successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. João Teixeira charged in rather forcefully in the 14th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed João Teixeira the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 14th match minute, Martianas was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by João Teixeira to maneuver through the defense. André Baptista fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 17th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Manuel Pinho having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in SC Saramaga's zone, Raul Machado stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Heitor Carvalho came out of the goal and Raul Machado tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Heitor Carvalho took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Joel Barros, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 28th match minute, SC Saramaga was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jacinto Lopes to maneuver through the defense. The attack was good, but when Joel Barros in the 32nd minute was about to shoot he didn't kick quite good enough and the ball went high over goal. Joel Barros fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 35th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Heitor Carvalho having to interfere. The audience was convinced that Joel Barros's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Heitor Carvalho was relentless in the 37th minute of the game. SC Saramaga's Heitor Carvalho played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Raul Machado in the 39th minute of play. Alexandre Gomes hit a great freekick 39 minutes into the match. After 41 played minutes SC Saramaga got a freekick which was hit by Miguel Assis. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Joel Barros in the 43rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Heitor Carvalho saved SC Saramaga from getting behind. Heitor Carvalho made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Joel Barros in the 46th minute of play. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Joel Barros was the one to do the kick off. Raul Machado fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 51st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Heitor Carvalho having to interfere. Joel Barros kicked well hit freekick during the 53rd minute of the match. If André Baptista had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 65th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The supporters of SC Saramaga booed when Martianas was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 66 match minutes in a wonderful position. André Antunes didn't get a good kick on the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by André Baptista in the 67th minute of play forced Martianas's goalkeeper Manuel Pinho to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Martianas's Joel Barros in the 69th minute got a chance for a shot 69th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye SC Saramaga's goalie prevented a goal. Martianas's Joel Barros got a good chance for a goal in the 72nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. When Carlos Amorim fell near the penalty area in the 76th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Martianas's protests and gave Carlos Amorim a yellow card for diving instead. After 76 played minutes Martianas got a freekick which was hit by Carlos Amorim. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling André Baptista in the 78th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Manuel Pinho prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Pedro Amaro fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 80th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Manuel Pinho having to interfere. Daniel Valente hit a great freekick 82 minutes into the match. Alexandre Gomes sent away a hard shot on goal in the 84th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Martianas's Carlos Amorim got his second yellow card of the match in the 85th minute. The referee ordered Carlos Amorim off the ground. Carlos Amorim kicked well hit freekick during the 86th minute of the match. Heitor Carvalho made a fantastic save in the 93rd minute, when Raul Machado sent off a good shot on target. 94 minutes into the match, Martianas's Raul Machado sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Heitor Carvalho narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Jeers came from both ends of the stadium when the final whistle went. Neither team had looked impressive and the draw seeemd a fair result.
