Alberto Coimbra made a fantastic save in the 4th minute, when Manuel Pinho sent off a good shot on target. 9 minutes into the match, SC Gafanhao's goal looked a bit too open when Raul Brito came free, but Adolfo Paiva reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 15 minutes into the match, Sacavem's goalkeeper Alberto Coimbra had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Luís Mendes. In the 16th minute Delfim Miranda shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Adolfo Paiva saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Fábio Moniz in the 19th minute of play forced Sacavem's goalkeeper Alberto Coimbra to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Adolfo Paiva took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Delfim Miranda, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. A collision led to SC Gafanhao getting a freekick after 28 minutes play. Diamantino Melo hit a great ball. In the 29th minute of the match Filipe Baptista sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Adolfo Paiva skillfully saved the ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Delfim Miranda in the 38th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Adolfo Paiva saved SC Gafanhao from getting behind. Adolfo Paiva made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Delfim Miranda in the 40th minute of play. Luís Mendes recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 43rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 47 minutes into the game, Bernardo Matias was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Sacavem's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave SC Gafanhao the free kick. Bernardo Matias hit a great freekick 48 minutes into the match. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Luís Mendes stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. After 56 minutes Sacavem's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Lucas Monteiro who took care of the corner kick. SC Gafanhao's Lucas Monteiro was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Alberto Coimbra in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. Delfim Miranda sent away a hard shot on goal in the 58th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. SC Gafanhao's Adolfo Paiva proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 61st minute of the match, managed to save SC Gafanhao from getting a goal against them. If Raul Brito had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 64th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Adolfo Paiva made a fantastic save in the 71st minute, when Delfim Miranda sent off a good shot on target. After some fancy dribbling in the 75th minute, Delfim Miranda managed to get in a good position for a shot. Sacavem's supporters rose to their feet, but Delfim Miranda was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Adolfo Paiva breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 82nd minute, Sacavem's Raul Brito dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 0-1. After a defensive mix-up in SC Gafanhao's zone, Raul Brito stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Adolfo Paiva came out of the goal and Raul Brito tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When Hélder Queirós was, once again, overly rough in his play he received his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. 88 minutes had been played. After 89 played minutes Sacavem got a freekick which was hit by Hélder Queirós. After some fancy dribbling in the 93rd minute, João Soares managed to get in a good position for a shot. Sacavem's supporters rose to their feet, but João Soares was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Adolfo Paiva breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. If Delfim Miranda had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 95th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Fábio Moniz fell near the penalty area in the 99th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored SC Gafanhao's protests and gave Fábio Moniz a yellow card for diving instead. After a rather tough play, SC Gafanhao's Fábio Moniz got a free kick in the 100th minute.
