Carlos Martins stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Hélder Leite's shot from short distance in the 26th minute. In the 29th minute, Oliveira Guerreiro hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 32 minutes into the game, Hélder Leite cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Carlos Martins was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. If João Azevedo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 36th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Correlha's Domingos Matos got a good chance for a goal in the 40th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. João Azevedo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 42nd minute. Augusto Maia tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Correlha's Carlos Martins played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Paulo Miranda in the 48th minute of play. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.
When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Hélder Leite made a kick off. João Azevedo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 53rd minute. Augusto Maia tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. A collision led to Aveleda FC getting a freekick after 54 minutes play. After a defensive mix-up in Correlha's zone, Hélder Leite stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Carlos Martins came out of the goal and Hélder Leite tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The supporters of Aveleda FC booed when Correlha was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 64 match minutes in a wonderful position. Nuno Ferro didn't get a good kick on the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 67th minute, João Azevedo managed to get in a good position for a shot. Correlha's supporters rose to their feet, but João Azevedo was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Augusto Maia breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After a rather tough play, Aveleda FC's Sérgio Matos got a free kick in the 71st minute. João Azevedo recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 72nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After a defensive mix-up in Aveleda FC's zone, Domingos Matos stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Augusto Maia came out of the goal and Domingos Matos tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When Hélder Leite came up free with the goalie in the 75th minute, the Aveleda FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Hélder Leite couldn't finish the play. 77 minutes into the game, Rui Costa was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Aveleda FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Correlha the free kick. Aveleda FC:s Augusto Maia showed great skill when he stopped Luís Assis:s penalty. 1-1 came in the 79th minute when Luís Assis all by himself managed to get straight through the defense and place the ball into the net to the right of Augusto Maia. Delfim Mendes hit a great freekick 83 minutes into the match. In the 84th minute of the match Luís Assis shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Augusto Maia showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. The audience was convinced that Hélder Leite's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Carlos Martins was relentless in the 94th minute of the game. Sérgio Matos charged in rather forcefully in the 97th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Sérgio Matos the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 97th minute, Sérgio Matos hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. João Azevedo took the ball and in the 98 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Augusto Maia. Augusto Maia dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 3-1. Correlha were really happy, having secured the victory after a very even contest. They thanked the players of Aveleda FC for a fine match.
