Paulo Magalhães could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 29th minute of the match, but Basílio Araújo made a huge save. When António Freitas fell near the penalty area in the 30th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Lameirao's protests and gave António Freitas a yellow card for diving instead. António Freitas hit a great freekick 30 minutes into the match. In the 36th minute, António Freitas hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The supporters of SC Guimarais booed when Lameirao was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 45 match minutes in a wonderful position. Henrique Leiria didn't get a good kick on the ball. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-0.

Artur Reis came out of the goal and Cândido Pacheco tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. SC Guimarais's Eduardo Teixeira got a good chance for a goal in the 82nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 85th minute Eduardo Teixeira shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Basílio Araújo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The supporters of SC Guimarais booed when Lameirao was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 86 match minutes in a wonderful position. António Assunção didn't get a good kick on the ball. For all the effort they put into the match, the Lameirao players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for SC Guimarais.
