An unexpectedly hard shot by Alfredo Dantas in the 6th minute of play forced Olisipo FC's goalkeeper Rogério Gonçalves to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Alfredo Dantas struck a weak shot in the 11th minute. Rogério Gonçalves didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Varatojo FC. Pedro Guarda kicked well hit freekick during the 12th minute of the match. 14 minutes into the match, Varatojo FC's Alfredo Dantas sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Rogério Gonçalves narrowly saved just below the crossbar. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Francisco Mota during the 14th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After a rather tough play, Olisipo FC's Francisco Mota got a free kick in the 15th minute. Alberto Teixeira sent away a hard shot on goal in the 17th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When the match clock showed 20 minutes, the score became 0-1 when Alberto Teixeira sped through Olisipo FC's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Rogério Gonçalves. A collision led to Varatojo FC getting a freekick after 31 minutes play. Alberto Teixeira hit a great ball. The supporters of Varatojo FC booed when Olisipo FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 36 match minutes in a wonderful position. Diogo Vale didn't get a good kick on the ball. Alberto Teixeira recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 41st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Rui Leão received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 44th minute. Manuel Leão tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The crowd rose to their feet as Manuel Nascimento kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Manuel Leão. That made the score 1-1 in the 47 minute of play.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Alberto Teixeira to make the kick off. Manuel Leão showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Rui Leão, who was totally free with the ball in the 56th minute. 58 minutes into the game, Alfredo Dantas cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-2. Rogério Gonçalves was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Olisipo FC's Rogério Gonçalves proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 62nd minute of the match, managed to save Olisipo FC from getting a goal against them. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Duarte Amorim during the 72nd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Duarte Amorim hit a great freekick 72 minutes into the match. Manuel Leão showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Manuel Nascimento in the 76th minute of the match. Olisipo FC's Rogério Gonçalves played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Alberto Teixeira in the 84th minute of play. In the 86th minute Varatojo FC were awarded a corner. António Viegas went to the cornerflag to take it. António Viegas made a great header on Varatojo FC's corner, it was just that Olisipo FC's Rogério Gonçalves managed to reach the ball for a save. If Rui Leão had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 91st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 99th minute, Manuel Nascimento got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Both teams had looked equal from kick-off, and no-one was surprised when the match finally ended in a draw.
