The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. 13 minutes into the match, Sobreira FC's Vítor Rocha sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Alfredo Pinto narrowly saved just below the crossbar. 15 minutes into the match, SC Rendufinho's goal looked a bit too open when Vítor Rocha came free, but Alfredo Pinto reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When Vítor Rocha came up free with the goalie in the 20th minute, the Sobreira FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Vítor Rocha couldn't finish the play. Vítor Rocha blasted a shot towards the goal in the 24th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Alfredo Pinto having to make a save. Sobreira FC's Álvaro Brito played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by José Ferro in the 27th minute of play. If Vítor Rocha had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 28th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. SC Rendufinho's Alfredo Pinto played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Joaquim Cruz in the 31st minute of play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling José Ferro in the 35th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Álvaro Brito prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After 35 minutes, Eusébio Barbosa mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the SC Rendufinho and the Sobreira FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, SC Rendufinho's Eusébio Barbosa got a free kick in the 35th minute. In the 37thth minute of the game Joaquim Cruz who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but SC Rendufinho's Alfredo Pinto was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. If Vítor Rocha had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 40th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 41st minute, Joaquim Cruz got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Alfredo Pinto showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Joaquim Cruz, who was totally free with the ball in the 43rd minute. Alfredo Pinto made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Vítor Rocha in the 44th minute of play. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and José Ferro made a kick off. Vítor Rocha might have been able to make a better finish in the 54th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Alfredo Pinto. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Vítor Rocha ran back to his position shaking his head. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Joaquim Cruz in the 56th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Alfredo Pinto prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Eduardo Gonçalves recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 72nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 76th minute, Vítor Rocha left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Sobreira FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-2. Eduardo Gonçalves fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 86th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Álvaro Brito having to interfere. In the 87th match minute, Sobreira FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Amadeu Gonçalves to maneuver through the defense. In the 88th minute Eduardo Gonçalves shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Álvaro Brito saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 89th minute, Joaquim Cruz fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Alfredo Pinto, passed just outside the right post. In the 91st minute, Joaquim Cruz got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After having played for 93 minutes, Vítor Rocha managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Sobreira FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Vítor Rocha was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Vítor Rocha could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 94th minute of the match, but Alfredo Pinto made a huge save. Vítor Rocha was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 96th minute. Sobreira FC's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. When the match was over Sobreira FC could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than SC Rendufinho throughout the match.
