Manuel Paiva fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 9th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jaime Leão having to interfere. In the 12th minute, Miguel Moreira got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Santulhao's Cândido Machado proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 15th minute of the match, managed to save Santulhao from getting a goal against them. Augusto Moniz fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 18th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Cândido Machado having to interfere. Pedro Coelho kicked well hit freekick during the 24th minute of the match. Santulhao's Cândido Machado played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Augusto Moniz in the 24th minute of play. If Manuel Paiva had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 26th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Miguel Moreira in the 28th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Jaime Leão prevented the ball from getting in the gole. When Rui Guerreiro fell near the penalty area in the 29th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored SC Palmazes's protests and gave Rui Guerreiro a yellow card for diving instead. In the 29th match minute, SC Palmazes was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Rui Guerreiro to maneuver through the defense. In the 30th minute of the match Adelino Abreu shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Jaime Leão showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Manuel Paiva in the 33rd minute of play forced SC Palmazes's goalkeeper Jaime Leão to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Cândido Machado showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Augusto Moniz, who was totally free with the ball in the 35th minute. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The wind increased when Augusto Moniz made the kick off in the second half. If Manuel Paiva had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 61st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Eduardo Jesus in the 63rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Cândido Machado prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After a defensive mix-up in SC Palmazes's zone, Manuel Paiva stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jaime Leão came out of the goal and Manuel Paiva tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Joaquim Cabral charged in rather forcefully in the 66th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Joaquim Cabral the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Joaquim Cabral hit a great freekick 66 minutes into the match. If Miguel Moreira had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 67th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 68 minutes into the game, Carlos Veiga was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. SC Palmazes's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Santulhao the free kick. In the 69th minute, Carlos Veiga hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. SC Palmazes's Jaime Leão played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Manuel Paiva in the 70th minute of play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Miguel Moreira in the 71st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Jaime Leão saved SC Palmazes from getting behind. In the 76th minute the ball was on its way in behind SC Palmazes's goalkeeper Jaime Leão, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. If Manuel Paiva had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 78th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Augusto Moniz received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 89th minute. Cândido Machado tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Miguel Moreira had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 92nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Santulhao's Manuel Paiva in the 93rd minute got a chance for a shot 93rd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye SC Palmazes's goalie prevented a goal. Jaime Leão made an important save on a dangerous shot by Miguel Moreira in the 97th minute. SC Palmazes succeeded in salvaging a draw, even though Santulhao had controlled the match.
